Manage activities of instrument service technicians. Manage communications pertaining to instruments that are returned from customers and sales demonstrations / marketing equipment.
Provide up-to-date status on repairs, responding quickly to customer down’ situations. Manage service inventory to an appropriate level to support customer requirements.
Manage non-conforming returned component items that need to be further returned to the OEM manufacturer due to defects, etc.
Responsibilities :
- Identifies work procedures, prioritize workflow and communicate priorities effectively with instrument return technicians and clerks.
- Follows existing product manufacturing instructions for all relevant revisions (service history).
- Issues written and oral instructions to area employees and other non-area employees as needed to support instrument repair schedules.
- Identifies workload for the Instrument Service area. Working with new build’ production to shift personnel between the areas, when additional personnel is required in the other area.
- Examines work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Assures accurate DHRs enforcing good document practices.
- Trains department employees to relevant procedures or arrange such training with the manufacturing engineering department where train the trainer’ might not be effective.
- Examines and compares returns with original records to assure that information such as quantity, type of defect, and date on invoice are considered in the warranty evaluation (and non-warranty determinations).
- Enters information into company databases (Sales Force.com, Oracle, etc.)
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
- Monitors technician’s productivity, efficiency and accuracy for all processes.
- Assists employees with work process problems, finding solutions or obtaining engineering assistance (etc.).
- Works closely with the technical service department to solve problems and communicate status.
- Tracks all inventory transactions made through returns process in the company ERP system.
- Evaluates work orders during repair and at the time of closure to assure that proper repair costs for time and materials are accounted for.
- Trends work order repair costs in order to budget future repairs.
- Evaluates cycle count results, taking corrective measures to preclude reoccurrence of problems.
- Reviews excess and obsolete inventory, scrapping unusable items in a timely manner.
- Reviews min / max levels for components and assemblies to reduce stock-outs.
- Works with the complaint handling department to trend and review complaints in a timely manner, providing technical details to the RA / QA group.
- Enforces proper cGMP and ISO compliance in the Instrument Service area.
- Publishes daily and weekly reports regarding status of available refurbished inventory and status of specific customer repairs.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Requirements :
- B.S. Degree or equivalent experience.
- AS in Manufacturing Engineering a plus.
- 4 plus years of related instrument related / RMA repair management experience at technical companies.
- Medical manufacturing experience desired.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret written instructions.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from all management teams.
- Ability to add work with technical math.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions, both oral and written.
- Computer literate and knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel, SFDC.
- Significant ERP experience, SAP preferred. Job Type :
