Position Overview : Directs the Housekeeping team to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of the property including Laundry

Essential Job Functions :

  • Directs the Housekeeping staff, by coaching, counseling, providing guidance, correcting work, while motivating team to improve and maintain positive morale.
  • Provides training and education for the Housekeeping staff, to include completing performance reviews.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff. Plans work schedules and daily assignments to ensure adequate service, according to labor standards and occupancy
  • Interviews, hires, trains, resolves problems, provides open communication and recommends discipline and / or termination when appropriate
  • Establish & maintaining finances of department, to include cost per occupied room under budget guidelines; budget development and monitoring;

maintain productivity and labor cost. Prepare reports as necessary

  • Inspects and evaluates physical condition of establishment (room quality, cleanliness, facilities) to include VIP rooms, ensuring service standards are met
  • Submits recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space; follow up on Work Orders submitted to Engineering department.
  • Coordinates deep cleaning projects
  • Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
  • Ensures that quality services are rendered in meeting guest needs and that guest relations are enhanced.
  • Compiles and reports accurate status of guest rooms to front office.
  • Enforces standard procedures for the acceptance, security and return of guest lost and found items.
  • Establishes and maintains adequate supplies for efficient operation of department; conducts inventories of linen, supplies and equipment on a monthly basis, ordering and receiving supplies so as to maintain adequate inventory levels
  • Plans and conducts staff meetings. Attend various other related meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent information.
  • Ensures proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for employees and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with propertys Hazcom program
  • Evaluates condition of furniture, fixtures, decor, etc. Make recommendations and assist in the coordination of rehab projects.

Qualifications, Job knowledge, Experience, Skills, Abilities :

  • 4 Year College degree preferred in Hospitality or Business field
  • 3+ years of experience in hotel industry, preferably Housekeeping area
  • Management experience required
  • Hilton brands experience preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish, English / Creole preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to multitask

Physical requirements of the position and work environment :

  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch
  • Must use hands to reach, grasp, handle, pull and push
  • Must have good near and far vision
  • Must be able to hear, talk, smell
  • Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds
  • Duties performed indoors and outdoors. Noise level moderate.

Additional Property Specific Functions :

  • Ability to communicate in the language used in the workplace. Knowledge of a foreign language (Spanish) highly preferred.
  • Conduct safety audits and fire drills at least twice a year.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and monthly Safety Committee Meetings, including the distribution of the meeting minutes.
  • Knowledge of PMS OnQ.
  • Perform guest room lock reads as necessary.
  • Maintain and follow the maintenance schedule of elevators, fire alarm, alarm panel, fire sprinklers and backflow.
