Job Summary
The Lifeguard works under direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Aquatics unit, which include customer service, patron safety, pool maintenance, emergency procedures / evacuations, and daily safety checks of the swimming pools, and surrounding areas.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note : The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point.
An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
UCSF Fitness and Recreation operates two fitness centers at UCSF. We provide fitness and wellbeing services to UCSF Students, Faculty, Staff and Community members through a broad range of fitness, recreation, aquatics, personal training, outdoor programs, and health and wellness programs.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma, possession of an American Red Cross Advanced Life Saving Certificate, possession of a Water Safety Instructor's Certificate, and possession of a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding / First Aid / CPR / AED Certificate (active or obtained by start date)
Preferred Qualifications
American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22) (active or obtained within 1 year of hire)
