Position Summary :
The Senior Accountant, reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, is responsible for providing support to the finance department.
This position will perform a variety of activities in support of completing timely and accurate financial statements, management reports and various continual improvement projects.
Reports to : Vice President of Finance
Functional Responsibilities :
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
- Lead the Business Central conversion for General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, and Accounts Payables and related subsystem integration (including deduction management and payables automation) and manage those areas of the system post conversion.
- Continually work with team members on process improvements within responsible functions.
- Maintain and update supporting documentation and reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
- Assist with accounts receivable collections.
- Manage templates for SG&A expenses for Annual budget preparation and summarize data for loading into ERP system.
- Lead year-end financial audit and tax preparations.
- Contract management and setup in ERP system for new customer accounts.
- Manage Carma interactions with BMO online banking for business portal including uploading positive pay file, comprehensive payables EDI file, monitoring positive pay exceptions.
- Manage Letters of Credit (LCs) processing for Carma.
- Process 1099s for Carma disbursements in Business Central.
- Vetting of requests for new vendors prior to setup within ERP system.
- Review commission payment schedule monthly and make adjustments as needed.
- Manage credit card platform conversion and subsequent administration.
- Manage accrued liability balances and adjust as necessary.
- Preparation of Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement.
- Coordinate requests for certificates of insurance with Insurance Broker.
- Maintain tax exempt certificates for customers.
- Filing and organization of accounting records, both electronic and hard copies.
- Respond to ad hoc reporting requests and additional projects as assigned.
Required Experience, Desired Skills & Qualifications :
- 4-6 years of related experience
- Strong ERP system knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Accurate and detail-oriented
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in day-to-day operations
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain flexibility in a changing environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Educational Qualifications :
- Bachelor degree in accounting
- CPA or candidate for CPA examination
