The Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences is one of four academic departments in the College of Education (COE).

It is comprised of three major programs : Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS), School Psychology (SPSY), and Special Education (SPED).

The Department offers degrees from undergraduate to master's and doctoral, as well as licensure and endorsement programs.

The Special Education and Clinical Sciences Department is involved in collaborative efforts among all COE departments and institutes to support research across the College, outreach activities, and core requirements for the master's and doctoral programs.

Position Summary

The University of Oregon's Special Education and Clinical Sciences (SPECS) Department in the College of Education is seeking qualified applicants for its open pro-tem practicum supervisor pool.

The department anticipates hiring supervisors in the Early Intervention program, however, supervisors may also be needed in SPED K-12

Supervisors will provide individual coaching and feedback to students enrolled in Special Education : Early Intervention educator licensure program during practicum and student teaching experiences.

Appointment level varies, based on supervisory load. Hours vary depending on the schedules of graduate students under supervision;

travel to field placement sites around the state of Oregon is required. Positions are limited-duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years.

Appointments may range from one to three terms per year, including summer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in special education / early childhood special education (or closely related discipline) and currently hold, or have held, a teaching license in the appropriate subject area in Oregon or in another state or Oregon Department of Education Early Childhood Authorization
  • Three years teaching experience at the appropriate level and / or content area (Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education)
