Job Summary :
The National Independence Senior Associate Premier Private Equity (PE) Support joins a Manager and Director who together support the firm’s independence with respect to its Premier Private Equity (PE) client relationships.
The Senior Associate works closely with the Lead Relationship Principals (LRPs) and engagement teams from all business lines on the firm’s Premier PE accounts, identifying the specific funds and portfolio companies that BDO is required to be independent from, evaluating the service opportunities notified by pursuit teams from all BDO network firms from an independence compliance perspective, and providing accurate, relevant, and timely advice.
The individual in this role also evaluates BDO’s existing relationships, national and international, with the PE client’s acquisitions and portfolio company add-ons and identifies whether any action is necessary to maintain the firm’s independence.
Job Duties :
- Establishes and maintains a detailed knowledge of BDO’s attest relationships with the PE client by gathering, analyzing, and checking relevant information
- Determines the affiliates of the attest clients, in accordance with the applicable independence standard, and updates this analysis regularly
- Evaluates new engagement opportunities, and the impact of acquisitions and add-ons on existing client relationships under the applicable independence standard and BDO policy and identifies potential conflicts
- Helps to resolve any instances of apparent non-compliance with the applicable independence standard / policy or discrepancies between the team’s data for the PE group and other sources of relevant information
- Contributes to the documentation and cross-referencing of work done and decisions made by the Premier PE Support team
- Develops effective working relationships with the LRPs, engagement teams, Private Equity Conflict Checking team, the BDO Rise team and key individuals / teams in other BDO firms

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Education :
Bachelor’s degree, required, with a focus in Accounting or Business, preferred
Experience :
- Two (2) or more years of experience in a public accounting firm, required
- Experience with the AICPA and / or SEC / PCAOB independence / ethics rules, preferred
- Experience working internationally and across multiple disciplines, preferred
License / Certifications :
CPA license, preferred

- Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required Language :

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range : $80,000-$90,000
NYC / Long Island / Westchester Range : $80,000-$90,000
