Job Description

Renton Municipal Cour t is recruiting for a Case Manager position with the Office of Court Services and Supervision (OCSS) , formerly known as the Probation Department. OCSS operates under the supervision of the Judges and the Judicial Administrative Officer and is primarily responsible for post-disposition supervision, case management, and support services to individuals on both the mainstream court calendar and those participating in the Renton Municipal Community Court (RMCC). Additionally, OCSS facilitates an in-house Domestic Violence Moral Reconation Therapy (DV-MRT) program. The Case Manager will focus on case management and operations of the RMCC program and will work alongside an existing Case Manager who primarily supervises mainstream probation cases. Each Case Manager is expected to maintain cross-functional knowledge and be capable of assisting with or covering duties of the other as needed to ensure consistent delivery of service.

The Case Manager performs technical, analytical, and administrative duties in the Office of Court Services and Supervision and Renton Municipal Court by providing professional assessments and probation services for misdemeanant offenders. Work is performed independently and as part of a team. Tasks are completed with general guidelines and require some independent judgment. Contribute to the Court and City's vision, mission, and goals in the performance of all job duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Coordinate the daily planning and operations of the Renton Community Court.
  • Guide program participants through the Renton Community Court process from observation, opt-in, dismissal, graduation, and assist with alumni programming.
  • Conduct intake and risk assessments (i.e. the Criminal Court Assessment Tool or CCAT) and develop individualized service plans in coordination with the rest of the Community Court team.
  • Facilitate referrals to treatment providers, education programs, housing, employment services, and other community-based resources.
  • Collaborate regularly with community resource providers, other therapeutic court coordinators, and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) through periodically scheduled meetings.
  • Represent the court at regional coordination meetings and community engagement events.
  • Track participant compliance, maintain accurate case files, and report program data to internal external business partners.
  • Facilitate on-site support groups, service providers, other therapeutic court coordinators, and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) through periodically scheduled meetings.
  • Facilitate and organize on site group sessions and programs.
  • Provide support to participants and court staff during Community Court sessions.
  • Facilitate Domestic Violence Moral Reconation Therapy (DV-MRT) groups as part of ongoing programming.
  • Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect.
  • Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.
  • Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.
  • Probation Case Management

  • Conduct pre- and post-sentence investigations and provide written reports with sentencing recommendations.
  • Evaluate offender's social needs and risk levels to develop appropriate supervision and referral plans.
  • Monitor compliance with probation terms, coordinate with service agencies, and report progress or violations to the Court in written and verbal formats.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and business partners regarding available services and resources.
  • Maintain detailed reports of case activity, agency communications, and client progress.
  • Assist in presenting recommendations and updates during court hearings.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the legal field or court setting.
  • Or 6 years of relevant education and experience.
  • Completion of a DV-MRT facilitator training program is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of State approved Probation Academy is required within 12 months of hire.
  • Successful passing of a required background check and national fingerprint-based records check.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Move throughout City facilities and buildings.
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Communicate with City employees and residents.
  • Lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Work is performed in an office environment.
  • Night meetings may be required.
