Registered Nurse (RN), Medical / Surgical, Charge, Nights (7p-7a)$20,000 Sign-on Bonus EligiblePosition Summary : Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.

Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work / patient flow.

Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.

Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.

Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.

Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred. Requirements will include successful completion oforientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and skills / credentials / competency requirements of specific unit.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able towork in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibilityand accountability to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required withleadership qualities.

Requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to thepatient population assigned, considering patient age, growth and development, and diagnosis with fullimplementation of the nursing process to include Assessment / Reassessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Planning,Implementation, and Evaluation.

Typical Physical Demands : Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients and / or equipment,manual and fingerdexterity and eye hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extensive period of time. May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.

May require frequent bending, squatting andkneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditionsand / or irregular hours.

Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and / or body fluids. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
