OVERVIEW
Under the leadership of the SORP Coordinator, the Case Manager for SORP Programs will assist the SORP Coordinator with the Services to Older Refugees Program (SORP) Program.
This includes performing a range of activities, from helping refugee clients with DSS & SSI applications, keeping track of their health issues, teaching ESL & Citizenship classes and follow up, to assisting them with finding jobs / work towards the goal of independence living.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help with case management and training related to the Services to Older Refugees Program (SORP) Program.
- Assist with paperwork for DSS & SSI benefits and subsidized housing.
- Make doctors’ appointments and bring clients to appointments, if necessary.
- Enroll clients in ESL & Citizenship classes and getting their N-648 if needed.
- Maintain case files and relevant databases.
- Submit written reports as required.
- Provide cross-cultural information and support to employers.
- Orient refugee clients to community resources.
- Work to connect clients with supportive community networks and support systems to ensure their long-term integration in the community.
- Ensure that refugees are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner and provide education and advocacy when necessary.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from and accredited institution, preferable in Human Services, Social Work or related discipline.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate well, building relationship and partnership with USCRI clients, partners agencies, state and federal program staff, headquarters and field office staff.
- Preference will be given to those who have the skill to understand, speak, read and write Dari and Pashto languages.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel and database programs, as needed.
- Pleasant work demeanor and the ability to get along with others and thrive in a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of USCRI, and interest in contributing to the long-term success of a local nonprofit organization.
- Must have a clean valid driver’s license and insurance, and a reliable motor vehicle.
- Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT
- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
- Quantitative / mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
