Overview

As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide expertise in some of the most vital aspects of a project : plant equipment, piping, control systems, regulatory compliance, and life safety.

Major Responsibilities :

Typical Activities of the Fire Protection Engineering Team

  • Selecting and specifying equipment.
  • Preparing detailed system piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Performing system and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Establishing facility design requirements and developing the system safety basis.
  • Providing consulting and code interpretations to interfacing disciplines.
  • Supporting the development and / or maintenance of fire hazards analyses or fire protection design analyses.
  • Reviewing supplier and subcontractor designs and installations.

Education and Experience Requirements :

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited college or university within the past twelve (12) months or upcoming twelve (12) months.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate and / or travel to domestic and / or international project jobsites.
  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited college or university within the past twelve (12) months or upcoming twelve (12) months.
  • Experience with fire modeling using CFAST.
  • Knowledge of life safety and building codes, including NFPA, UL, and FM standards.
  • EIT / FE certification in Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Prior co-op or internship experience.
  • Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
