Overview
As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide expertise in some of the most vital aspects of a project : plant equipment, piping, control systems, regulatory compliance, and life safety.
Major Responsibilities :
Typical Activities of the Fire Protection Engineering Team
- Selecting and specifying equipment.
- Preparing detailed system piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Performing system and equipment sizing calculations.
- Establishing facility design requirements and developing the system safety basis.
- Providing consulting and code interpretations to interfacing disciplines.
- Supporting the development and / or maintenance of fire hazards analyses or fire protection design analyses.
- Reviewing supplier and subcontractor designs and installations.
Education and Experience Requirements :
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited college or university within the past twelve (12) months or upcoming twelve (12) months.
- Ability and willingness to relocate and / or travel to domestic and / or international project jobsites.
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited college or university within the past twelve (12) months or upcoming twelve (12) months.
- Experience with fire modeling using CFAST.
- Knowledge of life safety and building codes, including NFPA, UL, and FM standards.
- EIT / FE certification in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Prior co-op or internship experience.
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
