OverviewRegistered Nurse, Operating RoomMonday - Friday; Per Diem (varied shifts), 6 : 00am - 6 : 30pmThe Outpatient Surgery Center (OSC) At Dartmouth Hitchcock is a free standing center located on the DHMC Lebanon campus which opened in June 2010.
The OSC operates eight operating room suites and is dedicated to providing care for adult and pediatric patients requiring same-day surgical procedures.
The ultimate goal of the OSC is to provide the right care in the right place and the right time for our patients who seek our surgical services.
The Registered Nurse is a key member of the surgical team who may function in a circulator or scrubbing capacity. Current services include ENT, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, ophthalmology, gynecology, and general surgery.
Outpatient Surgery experience preferred and the desire to work as a team member in an efficient, patient centered environment a must.
Computer experience preferred as well as the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. The OSC is growing and needs an individual that can function clinically as well as be a part of designing OSC processes for the futureThe ideal candidate must be a team player, enthusiastic and willing to be flexible to meet case volume needs.
10hr shifts, 7 : 00AM - 5 : 30PMResponsibilitiesUtilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, taking action to modify the plan of care or to elevate to the care team as necessary.
Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent and assist patients in families in expressing self-determination.
Actively seeks feedback and acts to improve performance. Engages in the governance of practice. Manages interpersonal relationships for self and with others.
Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession. Assumes authority and accountability for the nursing care of patients while appropriately delegating elements of care to others members of the care delivery team in accordance with laws, regulations and policies and procedures.
Prioritizes and organizes time to optimize patient outcomes. Actively seeks out the most current evidence and standards and applies and translates to daily practice.
Role models a culture of inquiry, developing new knowledge by contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice at the local level.
Communicates effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice. Actively partners with others to effect change that produces positive outcomes through the exchange of knowledge.
Precepts the student nurse, nurse extern, nurse resident, experienced clinical nurse and other members of the healthcare team.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.Qualifications* Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program* Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred with at least 1 year of experience.
- Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 2 years'Required Licensure / Certifications* Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required
