Responsibilities

  • Assist with both front office and back office duties
  • Greet patients, update demographics, verify insurance, and collect payments as necessary
  • Answer phones and schedule patient appointments
  • Assist physicians with patient treatment and minor surgeries
  • Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain authorizations for procedures and pharmaceuticals
  • Handle patients’ requests for medical information, copies of medical records, refills, test results, etc. as instructed by the physician with signature, obtain patient release forms in accordance with patient confidentiality and medical record release policies.

Schedule testing (in or out of office)

  • Call in patients’ prescriptions to pharmacies
  • Maintain inventory of medical and pharmaceutical supplies, order and stock as needed
  • Maintain patient files, records and other information
  • Notify patient of change in medicationsdiet and reminders regarding appointments
  • Notify physician of any situation they determine emergent
  • Perform routine medical testing, i.e. blood testing, ekgs, pulmonary function tests, spirometry tests, hearing, vision (including color blindness test), urinalysis, rapid strep tests and drug screening, injections and vaccinations
  • Prepare lab request forms and tests to be forwarded to lab
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patients brief history and vital signs
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Job Requirements :

  • High school or GED
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience andor training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification through AMT, NHA, NCCT, or AAMA

Preferred Job Requirements :

  • Previous medical assistant experience or background
  • Bilingual
