DescriptionProject Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

In this role, you will be bringing that vision to life by designing, developing and testing the embedded software that operates key satellite systems.

Export Control Requirement : Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.

S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilitiesIn this role, you will drive the design, development, and operation of a variety of key embedded software capabilities for each satellite throughout its lifetime from launch to de-orbit.

Own unique embedded software functions through design, implementation (in RUST, C, C++ or other), test, and integration in an embedded Linux or real-time operating system (RTOS) environment.

Write software to interact with devices / electronics using I2C, SPI, CAN, UART etc.Work closely with hardware teams to support board design, bring-up, and verification, as well as integration and test.

Follow best practices in high reliability embedded software development to ensure high levels of satellite security and reliability.

Basic Qualifications3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experienceExperience programming with at least one software programming language3+ years of embedded firmware development experiencePreferred Qualifications3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalentWork experience in consumer electronics, robotics, aerospace, automotive, communications fields, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and / or embedded microcontrollers (ARM, PIC, etc.

The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600 / year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
