Description

Summary : Celebrate Christmas by being a part of Rudolph's Holly Jolly Christmas Parade, an evening musical light parade containing nine floats and 33 colorful costumed characters! Float Drivers must have a valid driver's license and will have to drive a manual transmission float while sitting in an extremely enclosed space with a limited view of the drive path. We are looking for safety-conscious applicants that have no problem watching for signals from a float handler.

Starts 10 / 27 / 2025 and ends 1 / 04 / 2026. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities : Include the following. Other duties may be assigned to assist the team.

  • Wears a company provided mask at all times in accordance with CDC recommendations.
  • Wears other Personal Protective Equipment as deemed necessary.
  • Driver will maneuver parade float around parade route while watching for anything / anyone that might hinder the parade's safe passing.
  • Required to observe safety / security procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Must be able to drive manual transmission.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, respond promptly to customer needs, and speak clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instruction.
  • Have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Display original thinking and creativity.
  • Must treat people with respect and uphold organizational values.
  • Rehearsals & blocking may be developed at the discretion of the director or designated person.

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods in an enclosed space with limited mobility.
  • Must operate a manual transmission using repetitive hand and foot motions.
  • Must be able to see and respond to external hand signals in low-light conditions.
  • Requires full use of both hands and feet to steer, shift, and control the vehicle.
  • Must be able to twist, turn, and maneuver within a confined space.
  • Exposure to vibrations, flashing lights, and amplified sound for prolonged periods.
  • Must maintain physical awareness and coordination throughout the parade route.
  • Work Environment : This role takes place primarily outdoors in a parade setting and is subject to varying weather conditions including cold, rain, and wind. Work hours are during the evening and nighttime, and the environment includes bright lights, amplified music, and large crowds. The float driver operates in an extremely confined and enclosed float cab with limited visibility and minimal ventilation. The pace can be fast and requires high attention to detail, strong situational awareness, and a focus on safety at all times. Teamwork, communication, and reliability are essential to ensure a seamless and enjoyable guest experience.
