Job Purpose

The purpose of the position is to implement and execute on a sales plan for growth of SSAB’s business in the defined geography assigned to this position.

A successful development of the wear solution concept plays a central role in SSAB’s strategy of being a global leader in premium products, with the objective to increase customer value and to differentiate SSAB’s offer compared to its competition.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the growth of SSAB’s new and replacement wear parts, and consultative wear services.
  • Sale of parts and wear services to end users in defined geographic assignment, participate in all sales and marketing activities to ensure penetrating the end-user new fabrication, repair, and spare parts business in accordance with the overall objectives and priorities for supporting the utilization of scanning technology (FARO), and participating in developing and implementation of wear monitoring programs sold to end users;

and including other wear materials that will enhance our competitive position.

  • The Technical Sales Representative will support and promote the sales of SSAB’s product portfolio, processing, in the form of wear parts manufactured within SSAB’s network and consultative wear service programs.
  • Work in cooperation with local based Operations Managers to coordinate sales growth of the full range of processing capabilities and wear parts for SSAB branded products;

and successfully deliver the growth objectives by utilizing a close relationship with the market influencers and drivers within key segments to be maintained (e.

g. Mining, Recycling, and Construction, etc.).

  • Ensure our offer is presented effectively into the end user, after market, wear parts business in support of our growth plans for our fully owned HWP sites.
  • Successfully deliver on these prioritized areas, tight coordination with sales, business development will be required.
  • Secure data quality, targeting to deliver accurate reporting into the Services organization through weekly activity reporting of progress to budgeted sales.

Provide accurate and timely feedback on competitive pricing programs and assist in developing SSAB Services pricing strategy.

Contribute to effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues and offering solutions.

  • Assist in analyzing competing companies and products to determine their strengths, weaknesses and how SSAB should position itself to counter or take advantage of these factors.
  • Work closely with purchasing through forecasting to ensure proper inventory mix; support inside sales to provide timely, accurate and complete information related to all RFQ on value added parts and service opportunities.
  • Ensure FARO technology is fully utilized; ensure related software is kept current; ensure FARO scan results are utilized effectively by promoting and selling this service into the end users;

participate in global FARO team and ongoing development of this program.

Ensure accurate dissemination of SSAB product and wear solutions to key customer's staff through technical information and training presentations.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience :

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Metallurgy), Computer Science, Management / Administration, or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an advanced technical degree (Mechanical, Electronic, etc.

or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

  • 3 - 8+ years of experience in sales and excellent technical knowledge in the steel, mining, industrial, recycling or maintenance repair industry.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, extremely organized.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Experience in drawings, working with templates, and basic understanding and interest of CAD and nesting software.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, able to delegate, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive.
  • Maintains good public relations by displaying an attitude of dedication, courtesy and professional competence that will be recognized as such by customers.
  • Entrepreneurial; must have the ability to develop business, sales and marketing plans; ability to introduce new products and services, to include managing those processes.

Preferred Education & Experience :

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management / Administration, or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in sales within the steel, mining, industrial, recycling or maintenance repair industry, to include Supervisory experience.

Working Conditions

Travel 85% of time in the field, at customer’s sites.
