DESCRIPTION

Within the Department of Medicine at UCSD, the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) focuses on conducting collaborative, action-oriented research to understand and advance gender equity.

GEH is a collective of researchers, policy specialists, and development experts, and our strategy focuses on four areas : equitable social norms and agency;

health and reproductive rights; dignity and respect; and economic inclusion and opportunity. Our research is supported by a diverse portfolio of public and private funders, conducted in conjunction with international NGOs, and includes engagement with local and national governments.

Under general direction, incumbent will perform innovative, complex research data analysis related to family planning analysis, research and evaluation, including analysis of large datasets, literature reviews, and synthesizing insights.

Research focus will include family planning and sexual and reproductive health issues in low- and middle-income countries including Africa and South Asia.

Incumbent may author or co-author papers, presentations, and reports related to family planning for presentation with different stakeholders and at relevant international conferences and meetings.

Incumbent will apply extensive knowledge as a research professional with an in-depth understanding of statistical and / or other analysis techniques designed to support research projects of broad scope and complexity.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and / or research software programming techniques.

Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Seven years of related experience, education / training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience / training.

Knowledge and research background in family planning in low- and middle-income countries.

Thorough knowledge of research function.

Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming. Experience with family planning data sets (e.g., DHS, PMA).

Thorough skills in analysis and consultation.

Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.

Skills in project management.

Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $85,400 - $156,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $40.90 - $75.10

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
