The Opportunity

Sambatek is currently seeking an Environmental Planner in our environmental group within our Transportation practice to collaborate with a team in completing environmental documentation tasks.

This individual will work on projects involving linear civil engineering projects and site-specific land development projects at the study, preliminary engineering, and final design phases.

Work Location : Hybrid, in-office as needed

The qualified candidate will :

  • Complete environmental reviews and analysis per client and regulatory agency requirements
  • Lead the development of environmental documentation, such as AUARs, Categorical Exclusions, EA / EAW, and EIS
  • Write technical reports, such as wetland delineation reports
  • Lead or support development of permit applications and supporting materials
  • Lead or support coordination with project teams, clients, and agencies to ensure all environmental requirements are identified and met
  • Schedule and organize staff workloads and project budgets and schedules to meet scope via quality deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field (Biology, Botany, Ecology, Hydrology, or Soil Science)
  • Wetland Certification preferred
  • 2-6 years of experience in environmental documentation, ideally related to transportation projects
  • Experience with MnDOT or county linear projects preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and specialty software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Microstation / GEOPAK or Open Roads, and GPS data collection
  • Self-motivated with strong communication (verbal and written), leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively to manage multiple tasks on multiple projects with strong attention to detail

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • Ability to occasionally move equipment / objects weighing up to 10 pounds
