Position Overview

Under administrative direction, performs administrative duties for the Public Service Administrator / Director of Mediation.

Assists in the administration and coordination of all aspects of the IDHR Mediation Program. Provides for the preparation of case files received from the U.

S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Communicates with the public and parties regarding the mediation program and general agency operations.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as a Liaison to Mediators, general public and parties of a charge of discrimination.
  • Provides administrative support to Mediation Unit.
  • Provides administrative support for EEOC cases.
  • Provides back up support for case assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers working knowledge of office procedures and practices, and ability to operate and maintain commonly used office equipment.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of proven ability to follow oral or written instructions.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Office suite, electronic case management programs or similar software systems.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs, to sit and / or stand for extended periods, and to repetitively bend or stoop.

This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
