Expected Starting Salary Range : 19.73 - 24.05
The Nassar Lab’s areas of research interest include drug development and signaling with a focus on small GTPases. The research is both basic and translational, with research efforts encompassing several methodologies, including protein crystallography, biophysical and biochemical studies, cellular functional assays, and ultimately, identifying small molecule compounds that bind to and modulate GTPase signaling in in vivo models of cancer.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform experiments and record data
Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy.
Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques.
Assists in training students and new / junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Lab Administration
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately.
Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.
- Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
- Serve as a Resource
Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills.
Stay abreast of changes in key systems. Serve as a resource to the department in specific area(s).
Customer Service
Maintain / manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively.
Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Required for RAII :
High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experiencein a related job discipline OR
Preferred :
Bachelor's degree in a related field
