About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - PCU Job Specialty : Oncology Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : 12 Hour Days Guaranteed Hours : 36 Hours Experience : Minimum of 1 year of general nursing experience required License : Registered Nurse (RN) - Approved by a relevant Board of Nursing Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS;
ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred Must-Have : Comfortability with MedSurg assignments, IMC / PCU level experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and proficiency with titratable vasoactive drips and chest ports Job Description : Work in a mixed acuity unit with Intermediate Care acuity along with Tele and MedSurg responsibilities.
- Care for Oncology patients, including those with surgical needs, new diagnoses, and Oncology complications.- Handle medical overflow with an intermediate level of care including telemetry monitoring.
- Assist patients receiving prolonged chemotherapy infusions over multiple days.- Engage in care for TPE patients based on staffing availability.
- Maintain patient ratios of RN 1 : 4.- Support on the unit includes CNA, Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy, Clinical Resource Nurse, RT, and Hospitalist support, available 24 / 7.
- Utilize the Epic charting system; previous experience required.- Work collaboratively with Alaris and Omnicell equipment.
- May float to any adult inpatient unit as required, including Med Surg, Ortho / Neuro / Surgical, Heart and Vascular Unit, Oncology, and Observation, within the scope of practice.
- Participate in rotation for weekend shifts every other weekend.- Holiday work expectations unless prior arrangements are agreed upon.
- Approval for up to 1.5 weeks off during the contract; must extend to complete a full 13-week term. - Monthly audits conducted for pre / post pain scoring with the necessity of meeting 90% compliance.
