The SARA, Inc. High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for an Assembly Technician who has the foundational knowledge and aptitude to learn and accomplish skills such as, but not limited to, assembly and fabrication to support production activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO.
The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing and new programs supporting our customers.
The Assembly Technician will perform a variety of technical support duties in one or more manufacturing areas. Duties may be related to fabrication, assembly or repair of mechanical and electrical systems, electrical soldering and wiring harness assembly, painting, quality inspection, cleaning, and providing shop support to the production team.
Core Responsibilities :
- Work as part of a team or individually to complete assemblies
- Fabrication and testing of mechanical and electrical and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies
- Prep and clean various materials and parts for assemblies and subassemblies
- Keep work areas clean and organized (floors, workbenches, equipment, tools, etc.)
- Apply necessary skills and technique for assembly of units with rigorous Quality Assurance standards
- On occasion work in an Electrical Static Discharge (ESD) controlled environment
- Read blueprints and follow step-by-step assembly instructions
- Test parts and assemblies using measuring and diagnostic tools
- Create Configuration and Serialization Reports for each assembly which will then be inspected with a Traveler
- Immediately report issues with material or assembly to supervisor
- Read specifications, research, and resolve issues as requested
- Assist with preparing, conducting, and documenting lab tests
- Interact with all levels of engineering staff and outside vendors
Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years relevant job experience
- High attention to detail
- Experience soldering electrical components and fabricating wiring harnesses
- Ability to complete assigned tasks and special assignments using documented work instructions with minimal supervision
- Skilled at utilizing common hand tools and knowledge of proper use
- Understand dimensional measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc,)
- Work well in a team environment
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office and Email)
- Organize and prioritize workload efficiently
- US Citizenship required for security clearance purposes
Physical Essential Functions :
- Good manual dexterity with hand / eye coordination
- Must be able to pass and maintain pass’ status on OSHA-approved Pulmonary Fitness Test (PFT) to wear a respirator for prolonged periods of time, if applicable
- Moderate to strenuous physical effort, involving standing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, squatting, sitting and use of hand(s) while performing duties, carrying, or lifting to 40+ pounds
- Working environment is indoor, moderately loud, moderate physical hazards may exist
Preferred Qualifications :
- 5-8 years of relevant job experience
- Mechanical / Electrical Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to interpret engineering schematics and drawings
- Experience in an ESD environment
- Military Veteran

Pay Range : $25-30 / hour DOE
