Lead Audio Visual Technician – Richmond, VA Area

Interviewing and Hiring Immediately!

We are seeking a   skilled and experienced Lead Audio Visual Technician   to join a successful Government / Commercial AV Integrator in the Richmond, VA area. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a leadership role, enjoys mentoring junior technicians, and takes pride in delivering top-quality AV installations and service.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead installation teams on a variety of commercial and government audiovisual projects.
  • Oversee all phases of AV system installation, including wiring, mounting, racking, termination, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced technicians to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to company standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to interpret schematics, drawings, and scope documents.
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and final quality assurance before project completion.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment both in the field and in the shop.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, providing professional communication and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues efficiently to keep projects on schedule.

Requirements

Qualifications :

  • Proven experience leading AV installation teams and managing projects from start to finish.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in commercial audiovisual installation and integration.
  • Strong knowledge of signal flow, control systems, networking, and AV best practices.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior technicians while maintaining accountability and performance standards.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Comfortable working at heights, lifting up to 60 lbs, and traveling to job sites as needed.
  • Preferred Licenses & Certifications :

  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)   or equivalent certification
  • Crestron CTI-P301   or similar certification
  • Biamp   and   QSC   certifications
  • Extron ,   AMX , or   Dante   certifications a plus
  • Valid Driver’s License   required

    Requirements

    Job Requirements : Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with QCS controls, Biamp, Audio DSP, Shure and Intelix. Great to have : AVPro Edge and Visionary Solutions for VoIP / switchers Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with AV equipment Advanced knowledge of TCP / IP networking, switches, routers, firewalls are preferred. Advanced working knowledge of computers (Windows-based) and software. Maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and embrace a team-centric environment. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including product specifications, wiring diagrams, and architectural drawings. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive customer inquiries or complaints. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Valid driver’s license with minimum 3-year clean driving record. Infocomm CTS certification (within 6 months of employment start) & CTS-I within 12 months Maintain and / or acquire OSHA 10 Hr construction within 3 months from employment start.
