About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - SICU Job Specialty : Surgical Intensive Care Unit Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night Shift - 3x12-Hour (19 : 00 - 07 : 00) Guaranteed Hours : Per facility standard Experience : Minimum 2 years as RN, 1 year of travel nursing required License : Valid KY or Compact license Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association only) Must-Have : - Experience with vascular surgery and cardiac populations - Experience with AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, and similar surgeries - Experience with carotids, pneumonectomy, and post-thoracic surgery - Experience with EVAR, intra-aortic balloon pump, and TAVR - Familiarity with stroke signs / symptoms competency and bedside dysphagia screening - Experience working in a certified stroke center critical care unit preferred - Meditech EMR experience preferred, required in emergencies Job Description : - Work in a mixed acuity unit, caring for patients with varying levels of acuity - Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1 : 2-3 for unit patients to 1 : 4-5 for step-down acuity - Required to float within scope to meet facility needs - Weekend work required every other weekend - Orientations start every Monday - Must be familiar with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
