Unit Based Medical Director, Patient Flow Center

Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana is seeking a physician to serve as a Unit Based Medical Director of the Patient Flow Center.

The ideal candidate must be board certified in Internal Medicine and should have 3-5 years of experience as a staff physician.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Work as a front-line PILOT
• Work as a front-line Hospitalist
• Create PILOT orientation / on-boarding process
• Recruitment and Training of PILOTs
• Evaluation and scheduling of PILOTs
• Manages PILOT team
• Develop optimized PILOT staffing model to support PFC growth / expansion
• Develops PILOT Quality Assurance / Performance Improvement processes
• Transfer Acceptance Note chart reviews
• Audio recording reviews
• Project development (examples : transfer delays, patient and provider experience, documentation, guidelines for safe transfers, etc )
• Develops and optimizes operational / logistical / informational workflows (examples : PFC RN-to-MD handoffs, MD-to-MD handoffs, new facility processes)
• Investigate escalations involving PILOTs and / or HM
• Develop Service-Line and Diagnosis-Based Protocols
• Create PILOT job description to include a potential increase in scope
• Participates in PFC Peer Review Committee
• Participates in PFC Council
• Shares equitable PFC call responsibility
• Develops metrics and reports related to PILOT
• Publication / presentation development
