Primary Objective
The City of Bloomington is seeking an individual to provide professional public health nursing services that promote health for residents in the Bloomington, Edina, and Richfield (BER) communities.

Examples of Duties
- Provides public health nursing services to residents.
- Assesses the health and psychosocial needs of individuals and families.
- Responds to inquiries about public health services and makes appropriate referrals and links to community resources.
- Maintains effective public relations and communications with community agencies, organizations, and health care facilities.
- Maintains accurate and timely computer documentation of client services.
- Maintains private and confidential information.
- Travels to and from clients' homes, clinic sites, meetings, etc.
- Performs public health emergency response functions as trained and assigned within the department's emergency response plan.

When Assigned to Family Health
- Provides public health nursing services to families (i.e., prenatal support and education, postpartum and newborn cares, parenting, child health, growth, and development, etc.).
- Coordinates daily referrals and assignments with other family home visiting nurses.
- Participates in various clinical and community health promotion programs.

Minimum / Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
- Certification (may be pending) as a Public Health Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
- One year recent experience (i.e. within the past three years) in public health or other nursing work experience.
- Experience working effectively across cultures.
- Valid driver's license, car insurance and dependable car OR access to reliable transportation required to perform job duties.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree or certification related to nursing or public health.
- Additional experience in public health or nursing fields.
- Experience providing health education to individuals and families.
- Experience working with diverse cultures and interpreters.
- Experience working with children, adults and / or families who are at high risk for poor health outcomes (i.e. low socio-economic or mental health issues).
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
- Trained in or possess experience utilizing the Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting (MECSH) Model
- Experience working with electronic health records.
- Ability to speak a language, other than English, that is prevalent in the community, i.e., Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Hmong, etc.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Must maintain license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota and certification as a Public Health Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
Anticipated Hiring Range : $3 9 37 - $4 1 76 Hourly
2024 Full Salary Range : $39.37 - $52.49 Hourly

Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions.
In addition, Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligable for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.
Temporary / Seasonal employees do not receive benefits outside of Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook.
