- Comfort with working with both 'clean' and 'dirty' patient classifications
Job Description :
- Provide care in a 28-bed private room setting primarily for post-surgical and orthopedic patients.
- Work alongside a Clinical Manager who may take on a charge nurse role depending on patient census.
- Night shifts include a resource nurse who takes a full patient assignment; no Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) at night.
- Weekend shifts require working every other weekend and two Fridays per schedule, with flexible self-scheduling options.
- Participate in a holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff.
- Uniforms required in navy blue, including jackets if worn.
- Telemetry patients are monitored remotely by a monitoring technician on a different floor.
- Manage standard treatments such as Heparin and possibly MSO4 for comfort, without cardiac drips.
- Respiratory support is available, including Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow, coordinated with Respiratory Therapists.
- Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed.
- One shift of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor.
- Familiarity with Cerner Corporation's PowerChart 2012.01.20 charting system is required.
- Handle common diagnoses like pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end of life care, and low-volume inpatient chemotherapy.
- Assist with COVID-19 patients, with a clear distinction between 'clean' and 'dirty' patient hallways.
