Position Description

Plans and performs a variety of complex engineering assignments to promote the safe and compliant use of products; ensures compliance with government standards and adoption of industry standards.

Leads product safety reviews, tests and assessments for compliance with Federal, State and International standards, product compliance, emission regulations and / or product safety best practices,.

Evaluates progress and results of projects and routinely communicates key regulatory issues. Acts as the primary Company representative for product specific compliance responsibility on external standard / regulatory setting panels for assigned area of responsibility.

Leads field incidents and accident investigations. Recommends and directs changes in design, procedures or objectives as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs regulatory reviews during design and prior to production to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards and monitors emission performance of products compared to regulatory standards
  • Develops strategies, test plans, and product safety risk assessments to meet compliance standards and regulations
  • Leads the review and integration of messages and content in safety label design, communication reviews, technical publications, marketing displays and operating manuals
  • Provides interpretations and guidance based upon research of global compliance standards and regulations and report findings
  • Represents the company in the development of standards and recommends resolutions when necessary
  • Leads product incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis and / or emission audit reviews; ,
  • Represents Company for assigned areas of product specific compliance responsibility in consumer claim resolution, insurance and legal interrogatories, depositions, trials and assists in legal defense matters associated with incidents
  • Leads the certification of engines and equipment to meet relevant standard; produces and submits compliance reports as required for government agencies, including but not limited to CPSC and EPA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of regulations and industry standards
  • Expert knowledge of the design, control and incorporation of safety controls and compliance strategies
  • Fundamental knowledge of outdoor power equipment
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and / or location

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of experience in a related field preferred
