The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and performing routine maintenance of vehicles, tractors, semis and equipment to ensure peak performance, safety and longevity of equipment.
Essential Position DutiesDiagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the Diesel Shop ManagerPerform in-field / on road machinery diagnostics and repairs as requiredPerform routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and partsDisassemble and reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessaryRecord details of repairs made, and parts usedDocument machine information and repairs completed on work order, including parts and fluids usedMaintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safetyFollow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manualsComply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standardsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs and replacementStrong mechanical aptitudeExcellent communication skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.Possess organizational and time management skillsAbility to work independently on a variety of equipment in a fast-paced environmentExcellent trouble-shooting skillsAbility to utilize technology to troubleshoot and repair equipmentEducationHigh school diploma or equivalentAssociates degreeExperience2+ years mechanical experienceEssential Physical RequirementsAbility to lift at least 100 lbs frequentlyAbility to climb in and around vehicles and / or machineryFrequently sit, stoop, kneel, and crouchFrequently push, pull, bend, and reach(Occasionally : 1-25% of the time; frequently : 26-75% of the time; constantly : 76-100% of the time)
