A boutique firm located in Boca Raton, Florida, has an opening for a full-time medical malpractice plaintiff nurse paralegal to work on-site in the office.
Qualifications :
- Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP)
- Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certification program such as an associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, bachelor’s degree desired
- Certification from the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) or National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills
- Proficient with computers, software, and programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), Adobe, Dropbox, etc.
- Experience with Filevine case management software preferred. Will train.
Responsibilities
- Screen and conduct intake of new potential medical malpractice cases
- Order, review, organize, and summarize medical records; prepare chronologies and timelines; analyze case merit and identify the standard of care, causation, and damage issues
- Research, identify, interview, and communicate with expert witnesses
- Conduct medical and legal research
- Draft letters and e-mails
- Draft pre-suit documents, including
- Notice of Intent, Expert Affidavits, Informal Discovery, Responses to Informal Discovery,
- Draft litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery, discovery responses, subpoenas, deposition notices, orders, exhibit lists, expert and witness lists, etc.
under the supervision of a lawyer
Assist lawyers with preparation for depositions, mediation, and trial
