American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with neuro and trauma experience for a Level II Trauma Center in Maine, requiring a compact or ME RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital with a Level II Trauma Center26-bed ICU with some negative pressure roomsCares for medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, orthopedic, and interventional patients, including those with ARDS, sepsis, DKA, stroke, and multi-system traumaWork schedule is 7P-7A, 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per weekPatient ratios are typically 1 : 2 based on acuity, occasionally 1 : 3 during transitionsWeekend rotation is required every other weekend (night shift : Fri / Sat)No on-call requirementsMay float to Cardiac ICU, Cardiac Stepdown, Medical Stepdown, or PICU if experiencedUses Cerner EMR, with Alaris and Pyxis equipmentResponsibilities include comprehensive care of high-acuity critical care patients, including neurological and trauma casesSupport staff includes a charge nurse, resource nurse or house supervisor, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and trauma surgery team all onsite 24 / 7General hospital orientation is provided, followed by one shift on the unitFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyFlu vaccination is required, with medical exemptions reviewed by the clientScrubs may be any solid color but must be professionalFree parking is available in designated areasHoliday coverage is required based on unit needs, with all holiday requests sent to the manager for approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experienceCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredPALS certification preferred for candidates with pediatric experienceNeuro and trauma ICU experience, including EVD & ICP monitoring, is requiredVentilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke care, hemodynamic lines (A-lines / CVP), rhythm recognition, and trach care requiredCerner charting experience preferredMust not have previously worked in a permanent role at a Northern Light Health hospitalPrimary address must be 100+ miles south or southwest of Bangor, ME to be eligible for travel designation\n Benefits\n
