Perform Ultrasound for Monitoring Patients
- Responsible for ultrasound of patients for follicle checks and pregnancy scans on days that the physician is not in house
- Identifies Surg for RE cycles and directs patient to schedule IC / IUI.
Perform Sperm Wash and Intrauterine Inseminations (IUI)
- As per protocol, the NP will perform the sperm wash on partner / fresh semen for IUI(RE) patients
- Adhering to protocol and Time Out procedure, the NP will perform the Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) utilizing partner / fresh semen.
Demonstrate Effective Communication Skills
- Teach :
- Provide injection instruction to patients;
- Provide explanation of treatment options to patients;
- Provide explanation of the planned treatment cycle to patient,
- Phone patients with instructions as treatment proceeds
- Counsel :
- Provide anticipatory guidance during treatment cycle;
- Provide therapeutic emotional support during treatment cycle;
- Provide patient with pregnancy tests results,
- Advise and encourage patient upon completion of cycle.

Case Management / Cycle Coordination
- Conducts New Patient Consults
- Initiates Plan of Care
- Schedules Diagnostic Testing
- Order medications
- Designs and Updates Patient Plan of Care at the direction of the Physician
- Complete Patient Checklist by treatment start date
- Document patient care services by charting in patient computer database (RESOURCE) and departmental records, when necessary.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other clinical personnel when appropriate.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols as established by OSHA guidelines and regulations regarding : sterilization of instruments, medication storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
- Accept / make phone calls within established timelines regarding laboratory values and semen analysis results with appropriate explanation and interpretation.
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients anxieties; answering patients questions as permitted.
- Assure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follow physician practice and nursing division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations
Team Commitment
- Maintain patient charting, day sheet for patient visit needs.
- Review and update patient charts computer / STIM sheets.
- Cover weekends and holidays as assigned.
- Follow coverage schedule as assigned for daily assignments.
- Make referrals to other team members.

Clinical Skills
- Perform physical exams as needed and phone patient assessments
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

Scope Of Financial Responsibility
- Cooperate with all practice billing and reimbursement policies, Participate in cost containment by appropriate use of medical supplies.
- Direct patients starting treatment to patient accounts department.

Education / Experience / Performance Factor Requirements
- RN. BSN required MSN PA Credentials required as outlined for NYS.
- State RN license without limitations required.
- Minimum 1-year nursing experience in womens health care in a physicians practice required. IVF experience preferred.
- High level of listening & counseling skills.
- Aptitude to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
- Knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.)
- Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, some standing, and stooping. Moderate lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, grasping and feeling are necessary body movements.
- Sensory requirements of speech, touch, vision, and hearing to normal range, with or without correction.
- Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment.
Mental Requirements
- Must have the ability to perform concentrated and complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and highly technical situations.
- Must have the ability to work successfully under stressful conditions; capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a frequent basis.

Environmental Conditions
- Will work in an inside environment with temperature control.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials may reasonably be anticipated from the performance of patient care duties.
- Some physical hazards, i.e. needle pricks, etc.
- Some electrical hazards working with equipment. Some examples of equipment used are computer terminal, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, and patient care items requiring electricity.
- Some overtime will be required.
- Work routines / schedules are occasionally subject to change on short notice.
