Reports to : Resident & Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Manager

Location : SE Portland

Compensation : $19.72 - $21.80 hourly salary

Who You Are :

Utilizing your own lived experience of recovery and / or mental health services, you will deliver peer-led groups and work individually with residents to identify and address their support needs, including behavioral health, substance use, food, primary care, and more.

What You Will Work On :

  • Role model empowerment, self-determination, and self-advocacy; share your personal recovery journey when appropriate.
  • Engage with individuals using strengths-based tools and harm reduction concepts.
  • Assist individuals in identifying goals for plans of care / support; coordinate with the team to ensure continuity of services and resource development.
  • Promote and support community building and the development of natural support and self-sufficiency.

What You Bring :

Education, Certifications, and Licensure Requirements / Preferences

Self-identify as current or former recipient of mental health or co-occurring services and personal experience who can relate to others who are receiving those services

Experience Requirements / Preferences

  • Must be certified as Peer Specialist or Peer Wellness at time of hire or within first 6 months Minimum of 1 year of directly related Social Services experience.
  • Application for Traditional Health Worker (THW) certification completed prior to hire and obtained within 6 months.
  • Experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental health challenges and / or homelessness preferred
  • Understanding of Assertive Engagement, recovery model, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, wellness / illness management, and strength-based case management preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Background and MVR Screening :

Satisfactory results from pre-employment criminal and civil background screening required. Motor vehicle records (MVR) review required as needed.
