Located inManhattan’s Flatiron District, Freehand New York is housed in the former GeorgeWashington Hotel once home to many storied writers, musicians and creatives.

Designed by Roman and Williams and featuring custom-commissioned artwork byBard College students and alumni throughout, we’re revitalizing the artisticcommunity in a historic NY neighbourhood.

Conveniently situated in the FlatironDistrict, Freehand New York has a vibrancy that starts with the guests in therooms and public spaces and is complemented by the locals frequenting theGeorge Washington Bar and Broken Shaker rooftop Bar, enjoying the regularevents and activations.

It’s this energy that sets Freehand apart in the city,and it empowers the team working at the property just as much as it does theguests passing through.

NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE JOB

To takecontrol, accountability and ownership of the management of the kitchen and itsdaily operations

Controland direct the food preparation process and other relative activities

Constructmenus with new or existing culinary creations with the courage to try somethingdifferent and deliver innovative, locally inspired food & beverageofferings appropriate to the guest community

Monitoringand controlling stock levels

Workwithin the departmental budget figures, maximising revenue and minimisingexpenditure

Producedepartmental forecasts as required and communicate figures to the team to aidtheir understanding of the business and the importance of their contribution tothe business success

Toset up control systems to ensure that all goods received into the kitchen arechecked against delivery notes and those delivery notes are checked againstinvoices

Knowall statutory legislation and ensure H&S, food hygiene and Fire Safetycompliance

Operatea clean hygienic kitchen at all times

Keepup to date with local food trends

Coachand lead the team in such a manner that our guests receive an exceptional levelof service and want to return

Toensure that training needs are adequately identified and development plans forstaff are kept updated

Ensurethat the team is constantly improving their product knowledge to maximizerevenue and the service provided

YOUR ROCK STAR EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working within the hospitality / serviceindustry in a similar capacity for at least 3 years
  • A passion for yourcity, for travelling and for trending food and drinks concepts
  • Knowledge of contemporary interests and the city
