The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for leading a broad range of research initiatives and project management activities to fulfill the mission of the Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women's Health and Gender Biology.

The Connors Center is the umbrella organization for women's health research across all departments and programs at Brigham and Women's Hospital;

the Center aims to improve the health of women and transform their care through research, education, and advocacy work. The SPM will contribute to strategic planning and have responsibility for day-to-day operations of several Connors Center research activities, including new industry partnerships within the First.

In.Women Precision Medicine Platform, a broad interdisciplinary MGB-wide collaborative think tank including academic and administrative leaders across MGB, and a complex program project grant (U54) from NIH extending to 2030.

The SPM is responsible for managing important relationships with industry and government, securing funding to support the work of the Connors Center, and tracking ROI for all initiatives.

The SPM will work independently under guidance from the Associate Director of the Connors Center, taking initiative to strategize on goals, develop pitch presentations and communication plans, liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, and interact directly with colleagues in high leadership positions across the MGB Institution and the larger industry / government ecosystem.

The SPM will delegate and oversee project tasks assigned to other Project Managers and Program Coordinators in the Center to support these programmatic activities.

The SPM will also support other Center programming as needed, including an annual research event and other ad-hoc activities.

The ideal candidate will be interested in clinical research operations and have strong interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to function independently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

This position works closely with the Associate Director of the Connors Center and reports directly to the Director of Research Program Management at the Connors Center.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage all initiatives of the First.In.Women Precision Medicine Platform, which includes building and sustaining relationships with industry and government partners, strategizing on approach for meetings and pitch presentations, and deciding on appropriate projects and funding to appeal to stakeholders to achieve the mission of the Connors Center.
  • Overseeing the development, creation, and implementation of a new MGB-wide collaborative think tank comprised of high level research and administrative leadership across the MGB Institution to invigorate and grow sex- and gender-informed research among investigators.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a new research partnership with industry to conduct community-led research to promote diverse women’s involvement in clinical trials.
  • Manage the activities of a large complex NIH program project grant (U54) extended through 2030, including supporting 3 research projects, 3 cores, 4 subcontracts, and 2 supplemental awards.

Be the primary point of contact for 40 investigators and awardees associated with the grant, organize meetings, facilitate communication among the Team, and communicate directly with NIH with questions, updates, or concerns.

Plan research symposia; coordinate SCORE pilot funding award and fellowship review and award processes; create content for and maintain the SCORE website;

organize meetings of the SCORE External and Internal Advisory Boards and the Expert Scientific Panel; support the Communication and Education Committee, and monitor project targets.

  • Participate in the planning of and content development for the Center’s other research and educational meetings and events, including an Annual Research Event to showcase research productivity from the Center.
  • Develop budgets for new proposals and manage funds for existing initiatives to assure compliance and avoid overspend. Oversee vendor contracts and payments, and monitor purchasing and invoicing for projects
  • Lead strategic planning, strategic communications, and goal-setting initiatives for assigned initiatives within the Center.

Participate in overarching strategic planning for the Center.

  • Supervise 1 Project Manager and 2 Program Coordinators with delegated tasks and responsibilities related to specific projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required. Graduate degree (e.g., MPH, MS in Health Sciences, Clinical Research, or Health Policy) or equivalent degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with relevant public health or women’s health research experience
  • Experience working across the relevant ecosystem, including industry, government, and academic partners.
  • Experience developing pitch presentations, strategizing on implementation of new initiatives, and communicating complex timelines to large Teams.
  • Experience administering NIH grants; understanding of NIH grant mechanisms and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with event planning and execution
  • Fluent in computers with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, collaborative software including Teams and OneNote, graphic, and database programs.

Experience with Wordpress a plus.

Familiarity with working in large hospital and academic institutions.
