- 1 Year experience working in a long-term care setting as an Medical Director Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement resident care policies covering pain management, symptom control, and resident assessments (physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs), reviewed annually.
- Evaluate staff training programs to ensure nursing competencies and address identified gaps.
- Recommend education programs to improve outcomes and tailor training based on the resident population (e.g. geriatrics, mental health).
- Identify specific training needs (e.g. ventilators, IVs, trachs) and establish a system to track training effectiveness.
- Ensure competency-based training includes practical skills and critical thinking in complex care settings, not just online modules.
- Conduct initial examinations within 72 hours of admission and schedule follow-ups as needed.
- Commit 20 hours per month to medical director duties and provide attending physician services.
- Be responsive to policy updates and available for Department of Health Services surveys and investigations.
- Partner closely with residents, ensuring all physicians complete their tasks.
- Meet regularly with clinical management to discuss care delivery and attend monthly QAPI meetings.
- Any other duties assigned by the Department.
