Job Summary : The Database Administrator manages the performance, security, and maintenance of databases within Saint Francis Health System (SFHS).
This role ensures data integrity, perform system backups, optimizes performance, and supports users while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Minimum Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related field.
Licensure, Registration and / or Certification : Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator SQL, preferred. DP-300 preferred.
Work Experience : Minimum 3 years of related experience in database administration. Experience within a healthcare environment, preferred.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Designs and implements database structures based on organizational requirements.
Conducts systems analysis to understand and address database needs in alignment with business processes. Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements for database solutions.
Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties for moderately complex workflows and systems. Monitors and optimizes database performance, including tuning queries and database configurations.
Implements and manages security measures to protect sensitive data, including access controls and encryption. Develops and maintains backup procedures and disaster recovery plans to ensure data availability and integrity.
Ensures data accuracy, consistency, and reliability within the database. Maintains and updates SQL code to correct errors and enhance functionality.
Ensures compliance with relevant regulations and standards and assists with audits. Partners with business process experts to learn and understand database problems, making recommendations for enhancements and solutions.
Plans for future database capacity and storage needs, assessing current usage and forecasting growth. Troubleshoots and resolves database related issues to minimize downtime and data loss.
Decision Making : The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from a supervisor.
Working Relationships : Works with internal and / or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
