Laboratory Technician, IT Helpdesk
Overview :
Provides first level technical service and support for the use of end-point devices such as Windows / Apple / tablet / smart phone devices, operating systems, multimedia systems, desktop applications and classroom-based local area networks including (but not limited to) : installation, troubleshooting, repairs, configuring, and upgrades.
Actively promotes, fosters and supports the successful use of business and instructional technologies for teaching and learning.
Essential Duties :
- Assist students, faculty and staff with hardware, software, and network problems.
- Dispatch help desk request to appropriate area in a timely manner if problem is unresolved.
- Maintain and update help desk system as needed.
- Maintain and update inventory records as needed.
- Assist in the coordination and maintenance of administrative and academic computer equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting errors on the network to determine cause and assist in carrying out effective procedures to correct those errors.
- Assist in maintaining overall network security including procedures for handling viruses, etc.
- Assist in the research of hardware and software.
- Prepare supply orders based on needs of college community.
- Oversee the work of student workers for each academic term as needed.
- Perform coop student evaluation each academic term as required by academic coordinator.
- Assist with preparing the student workers work schedule for each academic term.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Associate's degree in computer science related fields.
- Working knowledge required of personal computers, software and peripherals.
- Working knowledge of different operating systems, specifically Microsoft.
Preferred Qualifications :
A+ certification or MOUS Certification preferred.
