Your day-to-day responsibilities will include :
- Feeding and providing water to animals at regular intervals throughout the day
- Sterilizing equipment and regularly cleaning examination areas
- Handling and soothing animals during examinations, treatments, and vaccinations
- Recording relevant information about animals, including weight and types of medication given
- Advising owners of pets about caring for their animals at home
- Cleaning, laundry and basic clinic up keep
- Patient handling and restraint
- Medication administration & filling prescriptions
- Assisting our Technicians and our Veterinarian as needed
- Tackling projects as assigned (with a smile, as always!)
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- High school diploma or GED required
- Preferred have at least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience
- Must be a bright, friendly, and effective communicator in order to communicate with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and other hospital staff.
It’s okay if you talk to animals, too!)
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 squirming pounds
- Must be able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases Expert animal handling skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks depending on needs
- Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment
- Computer skills to maintain medical records about animals in veterinary software
