This position offers leadership and support to the senior executive (CNO) in charge of nursing and other designated patient care functions / services within the hospital organization.
The role involves assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units.
The director has 24 / 7 responsibility for their assigned areas and is accountable for ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, competent clinical staff, and proper resource management for patient care.
JOB SUMMARY
The director is responsible for the management and oversight of one to two departments on a 24-hour basis. This includes budgeting, resource allocation, recruitment, staff management, achieving quality outcomes, performance improvement, service monitoring, maintaining positive relationships with staff and departments, purchasing equipment, and managing equipment maintenance.
The director will also complete the required competencies for the role during the designated introductory period and perform any other assigned duties.
MINIMUM EDUCATION :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
PREFERRED EDUCATION :
Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, or a Related Field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE :
At least 5 years of experience in the relevant discipline or specialty
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :
3-5 years of progressively responsible management experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE :
Current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE :
Desired certification in a specialty or administration. Responsibilities include maintaining an active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence / practice, having highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership abilities, operational competence within a hospital setting, and the ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing profession.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Required : Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or a BSN.
Preferred : MSN or master’s in a healthcare-related field.
Experience :
Required : 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse / related position.

Required :
Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. AHA BLS.
