Position Summary

The primary job function is to maintain and build the relationship between the Company and the agency force in an assigned inside territory.

Serves as the primary liaison to the agency force, which includes increasing sales, profitability management, training agents on Company systems, products and processes, as well as facilitating the process of agency ownership changes within their territory.

Essential Job Functions

Review and pre-qualify new agency appointments. This includes the onboarding, training, and management of new agency appointments.

Responsible for the growth and profitability management of an assigned territory.

Develops expertise in Mercury's products, platforms, and services to provide solutions for our agents.

Motivates and inspires assigned agency plant to achieve new business growth, a mix of business, retention, and profitability goals.

Creates sales visit plans and completes effective sales visits within an assigned territory to drive the new business required to meet financial goals and sales calls objectives.

Provides feedback and recommendations to management concerning market conditions, service levels and effectiveness of Company programs.

Responds to written correspondence, comments, questions and concerns from agents.

Consistently assists management with special assignments outside of established responsibilities.

Participates in studies through seminars / courses to contribute and apply expanded knowledge.

Establishes path to achieve semi-annual / annual production goals while monitoring and managing agency profitability.

Reviews and monitors agent production reports, loss ratios, and holds phone agency performance discussions to improve and drive new business growth and monitor overall performance in managing agents in their assigned territory.

Promotes products and programs to agency partners via phone to ensure understanding in Company philosophy, procedures, and practices.

Participates in a phone queue for incoming calls to assist with comments, questions, and concerns.

Collects competitive intelligence and industry trends to provide feedback and recommendations to management concerning market conditions, service levels, and effectiveness of Mercury’s products.

Facilitates the process of agency ownership changes. Analyzes and considers current business operations in order to develop appropriate recommendations.

Occasional attendance at Regional and State meetings, group conventions and / or agent related tradeshows.

Shows initiative and the ability to resolve a variety of complex issues with minimal supervision.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (as determined by Company policy) required.

Experience

6-8 years of experience with sales and marketing or commensurate insurance experience.

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Exhibits leadership skills that are easily recognized by management and peers.

Must have professional written and phone communication skills to effectively collaborate and build relationships with agency staff and team members.

Must be able to interact professionally with agencies and other team members to accomplish assigned tasks.

Must be able to communicate effectively to support Company policies, offer technical guidance and facilitate training sessions as needed.

Must be able to train agencies by phone.

Must be able to travel by automobile and / or airline 5% of the time for agency / company meetings or events.

Strong organization and time management skills.

Ability to motivate, monitor and develop assigned agencies to maintain a knowledgeable and well-trained agency force.

Negotiating and mediating skills to achieve resolutions and explain Company policies.

Ability to analyze complex reports and multi-task assigned projects.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
