Summary :

The role of the Vice President of Business Development is to strategize, plan and implement sales programs targeted toward prospective clients.

Looking for a veteran sales hunter who will also be an individual contributor. Responsible for initiating contact with potential customers to generate and qualify leads, promote the company's services, and identify sales opportunities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with the company's overall strategy.
  • Develop, document, and coordinate strategic business plan; establish milestones and monitor adherence to business plan.
  • Create a business development plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.

Analyze and understand customer strategies, future product plans, and expansion activities to develop penetration strategies for new business opportunities.

  • Develops and implements processes for acquiring new business development. Cultivate and qualify customer relationships, deliver effective proposals, and negotiate contracts to capture profitable new business.
  • Establishes short- and long-term goals, objectives and procedures. Directs work product of marketing to prospects through to contract agreement.
  • Directly manage major and critical developing client accounts and coordinate the management of all other accounts.
  • Ability to learn new markets, for instance, Chain stores, restaurants, banking, hospitality, industrial or senior living.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of customer database and standard tracking tools.
  • Successfully manage negotiation of difficult and / or critical business matters, through interaction with executive level managers both internally and externally.
  • Oversees pre-award preparation of RFPs and quotes, including responding to requests for quotes and pricing, conducting oral presentations / demonstrations, proposal revision.
  • Oversees post award of proposals, including attending debrief, conducting / documenting win / loss analysis and leading continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintains contacts with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction. Works closely with Operations to develop customer service standards, feedback methods (surveys), escalation procedures for complaints, etc.

Competencies :

  • Experience with or the ability to learn and operate within Salesforce.com (CRM), HubSpot and ZoomInfo.
  • Ability to work in a flexible and production orientated environment.
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient to advanced PC Skills including (but not limited to) MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet and CRMs.
  • Strong business acumen with successful track record of obtaining new business and quickly qualifying and closing deals.
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate significant attention to detail and understanding of contracts, pricing and implementation strategies.
  • Strong project and performance management, analytical, planning and problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience, skills and desire to contribute to and drive business strategy.
  • Relationship management : ability to establish and maintain credibility with business constituents at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to act with tact and self-confidence while also probing and challenging existing assumptions.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills that foster open dialogue; ability to clearly present and communicate concepts.

Ability to formulate and make effective and persuasive speeches.

  • Strong negotiation skills with business leaders, partners and vendors; proven ability to influence, motivate and lead people.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to prioritize and execute.
  • Results oriented; ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through collaboration and delegation.
  • Inspires and motivates others to perform well and accepts feedback graciously and openly.
  • Excellent management skills - includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; makes self available to staff;

provides regular performance feedback; and develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.

Education and Experience :

Education : Four-year degree in Business or Marketing or equivalent work experience in a similar environment with an MBA preferred.

Experience : Eight years of practical and progressively responsible senior sales hunter role. Technical skills in strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions / advertising.

Experience in Facilities Management industry.
