Electrical CAD Operator - Solar
Overview
Kimley-Horn is looking for an Electrical CAD Operator to join our Electrical / Renewable Energy team in Orange, CA!
Responsibilities
- This individual will primarily be responsible for : designing and producing sets of plans for electrical systems including solar, battery storage, electric vehical charging and building electrical
- Participate on project teams in an active production role
- Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
- Preparation of project specifications
- Preparation of electrical construction cost estimates
- Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
- Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
- Perform quality work that promotes client retention
- Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including solar photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations and wire sizing
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree preferred)
- 3+ years of design experience in Electrical Engineering specifically in any of the following : Solar PV design, Battery Energy Storage, or Energy Modeling
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD
- Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes / standards, energy codes
- Previous experience with solar production modeling is a plus
- Previous experience with electrical solar photovoltaic design or battery storage is a plus
- Passion for renewables
- Building Information Modeling (BIM - Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
- Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication / writing skills and desire to learn
- Ability to work independently and with a team
Salary Range : $65,000 - $85,000
