This is a Per Diem position for Ophthalmology Clinics in Lexington, Stoneham, and Boston. Monday and Thursday availability preferred.
The Registered Professional Nurse maintains the standards of professional nursing practice, and demonstrates competence for patient care through the utilization of the nursing process.
The process includes continuous assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and education.
The Registered Nurse directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of nursing practice. Duties may include conducting preliminary eye examinations prior to the patient being examined by the ophthalmologist.
This includes taking patient’s ocular pressure, conducting a preliminary vision exam, applying eye drops and performing assessment tests.
Pre and post procedure education to the patient will be completed the registered nurse. The nurse will also assist with fluorescein injections, including, but not limited to, set up of injections, and administration.
Use of aseptic technique with IV therapy. An additional duty will include assisting with in office procedures, including set up of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
At suburban locations, duties could include assisting in FMLA paperwork as need, processing letters for patients, and prior authorizations for medications.
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Licensed and current registered as a professional nurse in Massachusetts.
Minimum of 2 years of medical / surgical nursing experience is preferred. Related experience required for advanced clinical and specialty areas.
Demonstrate leadership activities; ability to work under stressful situations, and possess well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
ACLS / PALS Certification Preferred
