Job Title Kitchen Manager
Job Description
The Kitchen Managers main responsibilities is daily oversight as well as hands-on management of the back-of-house of the cooking school.
Key areas of the job include : food sourcing; maintenance of the kitchen and classrooms, and its equipment according to cleanliness and safety standards;
and managing the kitchen staff. The overall goal for this position is to keep the classes and kitchen running smoothly, efficiently and economically.
Job Skills and Requirements
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Experience managing people. Prefer minimum of 1 year managing a kitchen staff.
- Familiar with computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite, and capable of learning new applications
- Must do some occasional heavy lifting
- Ability to shop the local farmers markets and develop relationships with the farmers. Must have valid Driver License and use of a car to shop at specialty markets.
Duties
- Manage kitchen staff employees including hiring.
- Sourcing all food items and equipment for all classes and events.
- Oversee daily maintenance of kitchens and back of house
- Manage the Prep, Receiving Areas and both classroom kitchens of the cooking school, and keep them clean and organized.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
- Coordinate with other staff on checking and ordering supplies on a weekly basis.
- Receive and manager deliveries.
- Confirming ingredients are prepared for each class.
- Developing procedures and systems in an effort to constantly improve the efficiency of the back of house
Schedule
5 days a week, 8 hours a day, some flexibility. Must include the ability to shop the Santa Monica Famers Market on Wednesday and Saturdays.
