Wheels Up is looking for a world-class Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting in New York City (hybrid) to join our team of dedicated and passionate professionals, fueled by the most powerful brand in private aviation, as we continue our mission of democratizing the private aviation space through cutting-edge technology and innovative product and service offerings.

Responsibilities

This person will support the accounting close process and lead efficiency initiatives to accelerate the month-end close process while ensuring accurate financial records.

This role will manage and coach a team of corporate accountants and partner closely with cross-functional business partners.

This role is also responsible for operationalizing accounting for routine, non-routine, and intercompany transactions in the General Ledger.

The candidate must be a fast learner, change driver, attentive to detail, and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Senior Manager with at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience including at least 5 years of operational accounting experience and 3 years of people management experience.

  • Hands-on management of the monthly close process including review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses
  • Operationalize accounting policies as well as routine and non-routing transactions
  • Proactively evaluate opportunities to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in accounting and operational processes / systems and in the accounting close process
  • Develop a culture of mentorship, continuous improvement, training, and access in the corporate accounting organization.

Develop, motivate, and manage a high-performing team

  • Support multiple cross-functional teams, including FP&A, HR, Payroll, Revenue, and Tax
  • Own a number of crucial SOX controls and document review evidence in a detailed and comprehensive manner, including the review of the completeness and accuracy of the underlying data
  • Be a proactive liaison with external and internal auditors to drive the successful completion of audits

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience including at least 5 years of operational accounting experience and 3 years of people management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting with proficient knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience in accounting operations of a public company
  • Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to develop, motivate, and manage a high-performing team
  • Attentive to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Salary Range

The wage range for this position ($140,000 $180,000 base salary) is determined on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, such as differences in skill sets;

experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. This wage range has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with where the position may be filled.

At Wheels Up, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Your placement within the wage range is primarily based on your qualifications and experience.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
