Job Summary
The work-study program offers SLCC students a unique opportunity to work within the GSSRC, helping to improve access to higher education for all students we serve.
The GSSRC focuses on cultural education, celebration, engagement, and awareness to provide opportunities for all students to learn with and from one another.
Specialists will assist the GSSRC in providing personalized guidance, support, and collaboration with various departments and partners across the college.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties - Support and assist students navigating SLCC, emphasizing those needing additional guidance.
- Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of individuals within the academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff including those with disabilities.
- Engage with students visiting the GSSRC, addressing their questions and concerns.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, promotion, and execution of events and programs hosted by SLCC GSSRC.
- Assist with outreach efforts and follow-up communications for the coordinator’s student groups.
- Help manage GSSRC social media platforms and website, ensuring information is updated.
- Support the GSSRC manager with workshops as needed
- Guide students on how to use the Canvas platform and how to navigate it. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued The work-study student will serve as a professional representative of GSSRC conveying its purpose, pillars of focus, and values.
Ideal candidates should be able to :
A. Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including different abilities, cultures, ages, and ethnicities.
B. Exhibit strong customer skills, cultural awareness, and sensitivity when interacting with an array of different people from different backgrounds, like cultures, ages, and ethnicities.
C. Effectively deliver presentations to audiences of various sizes, being mindful of the content and approach to meet the needs of different contexts and groups.
Minimum Qualifications Current Salt Lake Community College Student
2.0 GPA
At least 9 credit hours during Fall and Spring semester
Must not be receiving a student tuition waiver
Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, international student, or a DACA recipient
