Plant Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the grain elevator facility in Destrehan, LA, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairment of equipment and instruments.
Candidate must actively participate in Bunge’s Employee Safety Policy and maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees.
Main Accountabilities
- Preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, part replacement of plant equipment
- Operation of various hand tools and power tools
- Using measurement devices, including calipers, pi tapes, micrometers
- Welding and cutting using a torch : tig, mig, and stick on piping and structural
- Rigging and using cables and slings
- Sheet metal layouts
- Assembly and installation of bearings on shafts
- Alignment of motors and gearboxes
- Follow written instructions for maintenance
- Parts lubrication and other maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of different grain conveying / handling systems and belt splicing
- Regular inspections of grain equipment during shift

Knowledge and Technical Competencies :
- Millwright / Mechanic experience, preferred
- Welding and cutting using a torch, preferred
- Written / Verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment
- Ability to work in a safety conscious environment
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
- Associates degree and / or technical certification, preferred
- Experience aligning motors and gearboxes, preferred
Work Schedule
Overtime required as part of the normal schedule, call out availability, weekends / holidays, and an on-call rotation
