About the role

As a Principal Software Engineer on our video player team, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of our next-generation video player library.

You will be an advocate for pushing our core values of excellence in operations, engineering, and delivery. You will establish relationships across Engineering, Program Management, Product, and QA to help establish our technology roadmap to meet our primary goals.

You will join an international team of 100+ client engineers and leaders that have helped establish Crunchyroll as the leader in its space.

In the role of Principal Engineer, you will report to the Director of Video Players.

We are considering applicants for the location(s) of San Francisco, CA; Culver City, CA; or remote (US West Coast preferred).

  • You can demonstrate experience working with your product and program peers to help establish technology roadmaps.
  • You can demonstrate experience leading technology leaders and driving important engineering programs.
  • You apply judgment and experience to balance trade-offs between competing interests.
  • You have expertise in multimedia frameworks and protocols, such as MPEG-DASH and HLS.
  • You have hands-on experience developing in multiple code stacks - mobile, web, backend, db, infrastructure.

The Video Player team is a growing team of international engineers and technology leaders passionate about providing a world class streaming experience for our millions of Anime fans across the world.

We provide and maintain solutions on all major device platforms. Your contributions on this team are front and center to our millions of fans, affecting the daily success of our company.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance.

The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll's Total Rewards offerings for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, employer matched retirement savings, time-off programs, and progressive health benefits and perks.
