Van Klaveren's Nursery, a local family-owned Wholesale Nursery serving the horticulture industry in the Pacific Northwest since 1979, is excited to announce an opening for a Head Grower.
Due to our solid growth, we are expanding our team and looking for a dedicated individual to join us full-time.
We pride ourselves on our casual and friendly work environment, where professional service and a family-centered atmosphere go hand-in-hand.
We are looking for a positive, dependable individual who can lead our growing operations and provide excellent service to customers, vendors, and crew members.
Responsibilities :
- Overseeing all aspects of plant production and greenhouse operations.
- Developing and implementing crop plans and schedules.
- Monitoring plant health and implementing pest and disease control measures.
- Implementing and overseeing plant propagation techniques, including seeding, cutting, grafting, and tissue culture.
- Managing propagation schedules to ensure a continuous supply of high-quality plants.
- Utilizing knowledge of plant genetics and characteristics to monitor and identify genetic drift, ensuring plant quality and consistency.
- Keeping detailed records of plant characteristics, growth patterns, and any observed genetic variations.
- Managing and mentoring a team of growers and support staff.
Skills and Qualifications :
- Proven experience in horticulture, particularly in greenhouse management.
- Strong knowledge of plant care, pest and disease management, and crop production.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Eye for detail and professional presentation.
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually and leading a team.
- Ability to operate tractors in a variety of weather conditions.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); further education in horticulture or a related field is a plus.
