PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
1. Deters criminal activity and misconduct
a. performs security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
b. investigates suspicious situations
c. warns violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking or carrying prohibited articles
d. Sounds alarms or calls police / fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
2. Watches for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
3. Monitors entrances and exits; permits authorized persons to enter property and observes departing persons to protect against theft of company property and ensures authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate physical security requirements
4. Picks up and delivers incoming / outgoing USPS Mail to / from Holmes Regional Medical Center mailroom to Health First entities
5. Picks up and sorts all inter-office mail at all Health First entities
6. Picks up, logs, and transports cash bags, supplies, bio-hazard specimens, x-rays, medical records, surgical instruments, payroll, blood platelets, medication and lab supplies to / from Health First entities
7. Conducts daily vehicle safety inspection and monitors vehicle maintenance requirements
8. Conducts patient escorts, patient watches, and provides safety escorts
9. Assists and / or transports deceased to morgue
10. Completes required shift logs and reports; investigates and prepares reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
11. Assists associates, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
12. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by department supervision Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience :
o Associates hired after April 1, 2021 must be at least 21 years of age for insurance purposes
o At least one (1) year verifiable work experience preferably in courier, security, or customer service role
Licensure :
o Current, valid State of Florida drivers license required for associates hired after April 1, 2021
o Clean State of Florida Motor Vehicle Record
o Class D Security Officer License preferred
Certification :
o Must complete American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course within 60 days of hire and maintain certification
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
o Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days
o Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patient in crisis
o Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering the hospital morgue and the roof-top helipad
o Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and / or console monitors
o Ability to actively listen, interact cordially and effectively communicate with the public
o Effective oral and written communication skills
o Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
o Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
o Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend conversation and symbols in the English language
o Attention to detail
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Must be able to climb up to nine (9) flights of stairs
- Must be able to withstand extreme heat and cold
- Must be able to listen, speak, walk, stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time, for assigned shift
- Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able & willing to properly wear Personal Protective mask & gloves for assigned shift
- Must be able to respond within 90-seconds of an urgent duress call Job
